Nurse Residency Program

The Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Nurse Residency Program offers newly licensed Registered Nurses and nurses with less than one year of experience the best possible start for their nursing career. Upon successful completion of the NCLEX, nurses may begin their career at DHMC, an academic medical center and Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center located in 黎巴嫩, 新汉普郡.

我们的一年, 支付, comprehensive Nurse Residency Program promotes critical thinking, clinical skills and leadership abilities to offer education, support and mentorship during the transition from student nurse to acute care professional nurse. Nurse residents participate in educational and professional development sessions with their nurse resident cohort before completing the Nurse Residency Program and transitioning into a clinical nurse role, with a generous pay increase, on or before their one year anniversary of hire.

DHMC's Nurse Residency Program includes:

  • A general orientation focused on the nursing skills, behaviors and knowledge required to provide high-quality patient care in our academic, acute care environment.
  • Unit-based clinical experiences with the guidance of a trained preceptor.
  • Ten-to-18 weeks of specialty training using a variety of adult learning principles. 培训s deliver the content and experiences new nurses need to excel in today’s health care environment.
  • Simulation experiences in our state-of-the-art Simulation Center. This provides a safe learning environment for nurse residents to strengthen their assessment, critical thinking, communication and technical skills.

DHMC's Nurse Residency Program is available in:

  • Select inpatient units – med/surg, intermediate, critical care
  • Select perioperative/procedural care areas

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing degree program required.
  • For newly licensed nurses, a Bachelor of Science Degree in 护理 (BSN) or Associates Degree in 护理 (ADN) is required.  

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

  • Registered Nurse license in 新汉普郡 required.   
  • Basic life support (BLS) certificate required.
